Hi Rebecca,
Maybe exploring existing reviews....student could develop their own criteria
for an effective review format? This may also support the students with
providing quality feedback and comments if they are publishing on a blog or
writing reviews for books on other websites ( where appropriate).

Kids book review includes interviews/reviews and posts

Hiya knowledgeable colleagues!

I am starting a new blog for our school as part of our literacy plan & target
of raising student comprehension AND an ICT cluster goal of community
participation AND also to inspire children to read!
It is called our Reading Log Blog and will be used for: students as an
activity as part of their reading programme, in the library at lunchtime, at
home with family, by parents, by teachers by readers of the blog, you all...
etc etc.....
I got inspired after reading Steven L. Layne's 'Igniting a Passion for
Reading' over the school holidays and also finding some work done by Deidre
Senior.

So....I have set up the blog, which is very pretty and I am ready to
introduce and get it off the ground......what I need from you is (I'm sure
you knew there was a catch!) a robust book review format that forces the
students to look a little deeper at a text, rather than some traditional
review type flowery pieces I have seen.
I'm trying to keep the review short enough to not put students & teachers off
using it, but meaty enough that it requires some deeper thinking. If anyone
has a good review format they'd be happy to share with me, I would highly
appreciate it!

Thanks
Rebecca Power

p.s. here is the start to our blog if you are interested!
