I'm just letting you know that GO Storymakers has places for more students next term, and applications will be fast-tracked for students who apply within the first two weeks of term. It's an online programme for gifted kids and other passionate creators of stories - they can send audio files and digital photographs of storyboards and cartoons if the actual writing is not their thing, and we do have some dyslexic students who like to work in these ways at times.
We have kids aged from 5-15 in the programme currently, with the bulk of the students in years 6-9.
GO Storymakers is part of Gifted Online, although children do not need to be identified as gifted for this programme. It is interest-based.. Gifted Online was set up with a Ministry of Education start-up grant about ten years ago, and is part of The Gifted Education Centre, a charitable trust. The charge is $50 per child per term. Most students work on the programme in their own time, but some schools allow students to work on it from classroom computers, particularly where the children are known to be gifted thinkers, independent workers, and to finish other work early. If you spotted that only some gifted children are like that, you're onto it!
You're absolutely welcome to forward this e-mail to parents, or to get back to me for more information.
